Flaxseeds are tiny but powerful. Don't underestimate these little guys, flaxseed is considered to be a super food for two main reasons- it delivers quality plant-based omega-3 fatty acids and ground flaxseeds are a good source of dietary fiber.
1. Sprinkle a little on French toast
Roll flaxseeds into your French toast before it hits the skillet. It's a super simple way to boost the health benefits of Sunday brunch.
2. Throw it in your backed goods
Muffins, pancakes, brownies, cookies, bread– nearly anything can take a little flax without altering the flavor and texture of your baked good.
3. Mix in oatmeal
Just add your flaxseed meal after you’re finished cooking. It adds a nutty flavor that won’t overpower the dish.
4. Smoothies with added fiber
This is my preferred method. Add flax to your smoothie. If you don’t have smoothies on the regular, it might be a fun way to mix up your breakfast routine.
5. Boost your yogurt
2 tablespoons of ground flax on your Greek yogurt is high in protein and ideal for muscle building and filling up.
6. Give your salads a crunch
Try adding toasted flaxseeds to salads, soups, and sandwiches for a pleasant crunch.
7. Foods you already eat
Add it to stuff you already eat. For instance, you can try mixing it into your meatloaf, meatball, and casserole recipes.
